Shane Turner
Shane earned his Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie University, graduating in 1996. Early work experience included developing a database system for an epidemiology survey and system administration. While finishing his degree he worked at the Dalhousie Network Operations Centre where he was responsible for several university systems and services and re-writing the accounting and billing system for the university premium dial-up access. In 1996 he moved on to PRIOR Data Sciences, as a system administrator and then as the Configuration Manager for a military software development contract. In 1999 he joined InfoInterActive (later acquired by AOL), eventually managing the team responsible for maintaining and improving the development environment as well as the development and release processes. Initially the team supported the Internet Call Manager product followed by many others including AOL Call Alert, AOL Voicemail and AOLbyPhone. Shane later expanded his experience programming server applications in C++, writing stored procedures and modifying Sybase databases to complement his significant experience with Linux system administration, CVS administration, Perl, HTML, and XML.
