Brent Newsome

Brent is an experienced General Manager and technology leader with 18 years of experience working in high tech software development companies.  He gained extensive experience in planning, staffing, budgeting, technology, and operations with InfoInterActive/AOL (9 years) and PRIOR Data Sciences/X-Wave (6 Years). Prior to founding NewPace he was part of the management team for a Halifax based technology start-up company (InfoInterActive) from start-up through to its acquisition by AOL.

While with AOL & InfoInteractive Brent was responsible for developing and deploying large-scale consumer focused services and products including, telephony technology and web services products throughout the US and Canada with major telephone companies. At PRIOR Data Sciences he worked on large and small fixed price software development projects for the Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and several high tech companies.  He has been a leader in team building (in organizations from 5 to 175 people), leadership development, change management, organization development, financial cost control and quality/performance improvement in both civilian and military organizations. Prior to leaving AOL he was directly responsible for overseeing a team of forty people with revenues and earnings in the tens of millions operating in three countries.

Brent has a Computing Science degree (Dalhousie) and a Masters of Business Administration (Heriot-Watt). He also is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve where he holds the rank of Lieutenant-Commander. In his spare time Brent is active with Scouts Canada and the Canadian Cadet Movement.
