Oracle/SQL Reporting Specialist

Overview

NewPace is now accepting applications for a Oracle/SQL Reporting Specialist to join our growing team in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

  • Familiar with Business Processes including the concepts of Key Performance Indicators, and business metrics.

This position will be based out of our Bedford, NS location but may require international travel.

This is a great opportunity for candidates with a computing science background (with exposure to business operations) who are considering a long-term career as an Oracle Database Administrator to gain career experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Community College IT Graduate
  • Familiarity with UNIX operating system environments (Solaris, Linux)
  • Experience with database design and PL/SQL procedure design
  • Strong Oracle PL/SQL development and unit testing skills
  • Reporting tool admin and development experience is a major plus (Cognos, OBIEE, Business Objects).
  • Strong trouble shooting skill in an Oracle environment
  • Strong Unix Scripting Skills (KSH, Perl, CSH)
  • Experience with source code control with Clear Case or CVS is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate dedication to customer
  • No restrictions on ability to travel internationally

Responsibilities

  • Capture requirements from Business Team members for their information requirements
  • Prototype, design and write software to generate the requested reports
  • Collaborate with other Software Engineers to ensure reporting requirements are considered during software design
  • Diagnose problems with existing reporting application software and correct problems
  • Review existing reporting architecture and recommend improvements and changes
